Long & McQuade Takes Over Historic Cosmo Music Location

After 57 years of inspiring musicians and creating memorable experiences, Cosmo Music, Canada's largest music store, announced the closure of its operations in March 2025. The closure was attributed to significant challenges after COVID-19, despite major technology investments and efforts to adapt to a changing market.
Key Details:
- Location: 10 Via Renzo Drive in Richmond Hill, Ontario, just off Leslie Street
- Cosmo's Final Day: April 30, 2025
- Long & McQuade Opening: September 5th, 2025
Long & McQuade, a national leader in music retail, took over the store property, ensuring continuity for the musical community in the Greater Toronto Area. The new Richmond Hill location operates Monday to Friday 11am-7pm, Saturday 10am-6pm, and Sunday 12pm-5pm, with music lessons continuing according to the previous Cosmo Music schedule.
Cosmo Music began in 1966 as Cosmo Guitars, Tom Hebert's import business, expanded into retail in 1968, and relocated to Richmond Hill in 1971. In 2008, the store consolidated into one massive superstore, becoming North America's largest musical instrument retailer location.
The new location is store #108 for Long & McQuade
